Hawkshead

This is a most beautiful little village that attracts thousands of visitors each year, many are attracted by the fact that it is car free and so retains much of the charm it would have a century ago.

With no traffic the village is very popular with walkers and cyclists alike, bikes can be hired locally and make a cheap way to get about for those travelling on a budget.

The main attraction here is the association with Beatrix Potter the famous author and illustrator, her nearby home is now a museum and many people visit to see the landscape that inspired her.

The village has pleanty to offer in the way of eating and drinking and again there is a good choice of accomodation too.
