Bowness

The village of Bowness is situated on the eastern shore of Lake Windermere and is easily accessible by road for those hiring a car but is equally well served by train and bus.

One of the larger villages in the Lake District, Bowness attracts thousands of visitors each year, many of whom participate in water sports on the Lake. There are various other sporting facilities here too including golf courses, tennis courts and health clubs.

A lot of walks start and end here too and there are also plenty of places to ride a bike.

The accomodation here is as diverse as you'll find in the Lake District with lots of hotels and guest houses in the centre and self catering cottages further out.

There is plenty to do in the evening as well with vast choice of bars and restaurants as well as a cinema, theatre and even a night club.
