Grasmere

This village is situated right at the centre of the Lakes and so makes a very good base for the first time visitor. Again this village is on the shore of a lake, this time Rydal Water, which is one of the most beautiful in our opinion.

Grasmere is favoured by walkers because of the many paths in this area but that is not to say that this is all that this area offers. The village is well known through the works of Wordsworth and many tourists come for this reason alone, there are however a number of small and interesting shops too which are well worth a visit.

Accomodation here is mainly in the form self catering cottages and guesthouses while there are several very good pubs and retaurants too.
