Windermere

Windermere is one of the biggest towns in the Lakes and benefits from having a railway station, ideal for the budget traveller arriving without a car - hiring a car is very easy and cheap here though.

As you would expect from a large town, Windermere has many facilities to offer the tourist from golf courses and tennis courts to riding stables and health farms.

Just like many other parts of the Lakes, Windermere is extremely popular with walkers and cyclists but also has other attractions such as museums, galleries and shops.

Dining out here is very good with a huge choice ranging from traditional pub grub to more exotic food such as Indian, Thai and Italian served in the many bars and resturants found here.
